WATERSPORTS BUSINESS IN INDIA
India has a large coastline and hospitable climate, which is conducive to Water Sports. However, the factors responsible for the poor state of the water sports industry in India are :
High cost of watercrafts and marine engines.
- Lack of infrastructure
- High cost of fuel, risk of adulterated fuel, which is very common here, and poor availability of fuel at boating centers.
- Lack of financing from banks. Even medium size corporations want to avail of finance for purchase of Jet-Skis and Jet-Boats.
- large difference in price between a Water Scooters and Jet-Skis (Rs.1,00,000/- v/s. Rs.5,00,000/-).
- most Jet-Skis entering India are re-conditioned Jet-Skis, which are bought in as personal baggage.
